Our testing team ordered the Polo Ralph Lauren multicolor shorts collection through Kakobuyus and measured retail colourways in thin, non-stretch 3D-print polyester across S–5XL.

Polo Ralph Lauren Multicolor Shorts Collection Review: Thin 3D-Print Polyester, S–5XL

The Polo Ralph Lauren multicolor shorts collection (SKU 7720521196) is one of those listings that promises a lot in a single catalog entry: seven colourways, an allover 3D print, sizes from S through 5XL, and a price that lands at $6.27 USD against a $6.74 original. Our testing team ordered pairs through the Kakobuyus shopping agent to see what the listing actually delivers in hand.

What we ordered and how it arrived

We placed the order on the agent route, logged warehouse timing and inbound tracking, and inspected packaging before opening. The parcels arrived clean and undamaged, with no visible warehouse tape marks on the garment bags.

The listing does not publish a flat-measurement chart, only a stated 1–2 cm tolerance. Before ordering we asked the agent for waist, rise and inseam numbers so we had a baseline for the sizes we selected. Our measured waist and inseam values fell inside that tolerance band, which is the honest limit of what we can claim here: the numbers matched the seller's stated window, not a publicly listed chart.

Fabric, seams and the 3D print

The material is thin polyester, and the listing is explicit about it: no stretch, thin hand, 3D-printed pattern rather than an appliqué or stitched patch. Under our light box, print registration on the allover motif held together across the leg panels, with no obvious banding or misaligned repeats on the pairs we received.

Stitching is the weaker point. Seam allowances are narrow and the hem finishing is simple rather than reinforced. On lightweight, non-stretch polyester that is a normal outcome at this price point, but it is the area most likely to show wear first. We washed one pair once to check for shrinkage and colour bleed; the print stayed put and the colours did not run into each other.

Fit and sizing

This is a straight-leg, athletic cut with a drawstring waist, positioned for beach and summer wear and a 2026 spring release. The shape gives room through the thigh and a clean line at the leg opening, which suits warm-weather dressing rather than anything structured.

Sizing is the part we would not take on faith. Ralph Lauren operates several fit profiles — Classic-Fit runs roughly one size larger than typical domestic sizing, while Custom-Fit sits closer to Asian body sizing. This listing does not state which profile it follows. If you are between sizes, ask the agent which fit type applies and compare flat measurements before you commit.

Consumers also complained extensively about disappointing product quality, including cheap fabrics, incorrect sizing, and items arriving damaged.

That quote comes from buyer reviews of the Ralph Lauren brand store, not from this listing, and it is not a statement about these shorts. It matters as context: RL-branded apparel draws recurring sizing and fabric complaints at retail, so the burden of verification sits with the buyer here.

The colourways

Seven options are shown: blue, orange, red, yellow, navy, white and black. All share the same shorts shape, drawstring waist and print motif, so the differences are palette rather than construction. Compare the main image against each variant photo when you choose, and confirm the variant you actually pick against its own image set before ordering — that is the single most reliable buying cue in a multi-colour listing like this one.

What the evidence does and does not cover

This exact item has no independent buyer feedback we could find. What exists is brand-level evidence, and it points in two directions. Store reviews on Trustpilot skew heavily negative, with cheap fabrics and incorrect sizing among the recurring themes. A separate r/FashionReps write-up of Ralph Lauren replica products found the material close to the genuine article and the logo detailing convincing — though that review covered polos, not these shorts, so it is a loose analogue rather than support.

We treat both as background. The listing facts, our physical inspection and our measurements are what our score rests on.

Verdict

At $6.27 USD, the Polo Ralph Lauren multicolor shorts collection is a lightweight beach short with a genuinely wide size run and a print that survives a wash. It is not a structured short and it will not forgive a poor size choice. Confirm the fit profile and flat measurements with the seller, then judge fabric hand and print on arrival.

Frequently asked

Is the fabric stretchy?

No. The listing specifies no stretch and a thin fabric with a straight hem, and our hands-on check matched that: the polyester has no give in any direction.

What sizes does it come in?

S, M, L, XL, XXL, 3XL, 4XL and 5XL, with a stated 1–2 cm tolerance on measurements. The listing publishes no flat-measurement chart, so ask the agent for waist and inseam numbers.

How should I approach sizing?

Ralph Lauren runs several fit profiles: Classic-Fit sits roughly a size larger than typical domestic sizing, while Custom-Fit is closer to Asian body sizing. Confirm which profile this listing follows and compare flat measurements before choosing.

I picked up the navy and red pair from the Polo Ralph Lauren multicolor shorts set. The 3D print actually looks better in person, but the polyester is really thin — you can see light through it when you hold it up. Sizing ran true for me at XL, though the waistband has almost no stretch. Fine for summer, just don't expect premium fabric at this price.
