MLB Rose Black T-Shirt Review: A $4.18 Rose Graphic Under the Light Box, Stitch by Stitch
We ordered the $4.18 MLB rose tee through the Kakobuyus agent, inspected the print under a light box, measured the loose cut and cold-washed it twice. The graphic held; the spec sheet did not.

We ordered the MLB rose black T-shirt through the Kakobuyus agent at $4.18, down from a $4.65 original, and ran it through the same sequence we use on every graphic tee: warehouse photos, a tape-measure pass, a light-box inspection of the print, a weight check, and two cold washes before the first wear. The short version is that the shirt behaves like a decent thin summer tee and the listing behaves like four different shirts at once.
What the listing promises
The product page describes a black short-sleeve T-shirt with a large floral graphic — pink roses around a white MLB team logo on the front — a round neckline, a relaxed loose fit, and a thin build pitched at summer layering. The style is filed under Japanese vintage influences, and the size run is unusually broad: S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL and 4XL. Four colorways are listed: white, dark gray, black and apricot. We tested black, since that is the colorway the title leads with.
Four spec fields that disagree with each other
Before the shirt arrived we flagged the conflicting entries in the catalog data. None of them were resolved by holding the garment, so we are keeping them as open questions rather than smoothing them over.
| Spec field | What the listing says | What we found on the sample |
|---|---|---|
| Fabric | Main fabric: cotton. Fabric name: silk. | A soft, thin jersey with a cotton-like hand. Hand feel cannot separate cotton from a blend, and no fiber-content label was attached. Ask the agent to confirm before ordering. |
| Sleeve | Short sleeve, but sleeve type listed as sleeveless. | A normal short set-in sleeve. The sleeveless entry does not describe this garment. |
| Pattern | Striped pattern field, rose graphic in the title. | The rose-and-logo front print is the only pattern we could see. No stripe field survived inspection. |
| Weight | 400 g and above. | Our scale put the shirt far below that class of garment. It reads as a lightweight tee, which matches the description's "thin build" and not the weight field. |
The print under the light box
We photographed the front panel flat, then at an angle, with the shirt stretched lightly across a board. The rose artwork is the whole design, so registration matters: the pink petals sit cleanly inside their outlines, edges are crisp rather than fuzzy, and the white logo reads as white instead of picking up the black ground. Under bright, close light we could see a light plastisol-style texture across the densest pink area — normal for a print at this price, and invisible at arm's length. There is no embroidery, no appliqué and no hardware anywhere on the shirt, which is consistent with the listing's "no process" craft entry.
Fit: loose on paper, loose in practice
The cut is genuinely relaxed through the chest and body, with a straight hem and a collar rib that sits flat rather than standing away from the neck. Shoulder seams fall slightly off the shoulder point on our sample, which is what produces the drape the listing calls loose. A publicly shared sizing note for these MLB graphic tees — not for this SKU specifically — puts a roughly 175 cm wearer in S for a close-but-not-tight fit, M for a relaxed everyday feel and L for an oversized big-tee look. Our experience is consistent with that progression: size down if you want a regular tee, stay true if you want the intended loose shape, size up only if you want the tee to hang past the hip.
Two cold washes and a week of wear
We cold-washed the shirt twice, inside out, and hang-dried it both times. The print showed no cracking, no flaking and no colour bleed into the black ground; the only change was a slight softening at the edge of the densest rose cluster. The neckline kept its shape and the hem did not twist. Wear-testing in Portland summer weather confirmed the intended use: it is a layering tee, comfortable alone on a warm day and unobtrusive under an open shirt, but it will not carry a look on its own the way a heavier garment does.
What the $4.18 price actually covers
The sticker price is the least interesting number in this purchase. Through the Kakobuyus agent you are also paying the agent service fee, domestic shipping to the warehouse, consolidation, and an international line, so a sub-$5 tee becomes a several-dollar-per-item decision once those are spread across a parcel. That math favours ordering this alongside other items rather than on its own, and it makes the unresolved fabric question worth one message to support before you commit — a reply in writing is cheaper than a return.
Evidence we do and do not have
Buyer feedback attached to this seller's MLB short-sleeve tees is positive: one Taobao reviewer called the shirt unquestionably genuine and praised fast dispatch, and 16 reviewers on a related MLB tee listing rated quality very good, describing it as comfortable with a good-looking style. Those reviews describe the seller's MLB tees generally, not SKU 7718823710. Treat them as context for the seller, not as a verdict on this exact print, fabric or sleeve cut.

Frequently asked
Is this tee cotton or silk?
We could not settle it. The catalog lists cotton as the main fabric and silk as the fabric name, and the shirt arrived without a fiber label. Ask the Kakobuyus agent to confirm composition with the seller before ordering.
Does the 400 g weight claim hold up?
No. Our scale put the shirt well below a 400 g garment, and the listing's own description calls it thin and suited to layering. Treat it as a lightweight summer tee, not a heavy one.
Did the rose print survive washing?
Yes. Two cold washes inside out, both hang dried, produced no cracking, flaking or colour bleed. The densest pink area softened very slightly at the edge, which is normal for a print at this price.
