MLB Multi-Color T-Shirt Collection: 40+ Review — 100% Cotton Crewneck Tested at $7.91

We ordered the MLB multi-color tee through our Kakobuyus agent, measured and wash-tested a size L sample, and checked the print against the catalog images. Cotton and construction hold up; sizing and care remain the open questions.

MLB Multi-Color T-Shirt Collection: 40+ Review — 100% Cotton Crewneck Tested at $7.91

What we ordered and how it arrived

This is the MLB Multi-Color T-Shirt Collection: 40+ (SKU 7718818098), a short-sleeve cotton crewneck sold as a single listing that opens into a large wall of colorways. The listing price at the time of testing was $7.91 USD, reduced from a stated $8.45, and the item was marked in stock. We placed the order through our Kakobuyus agent account, reviewed the warehouse QC photos before the parcel left the consolidation warehouse, and routed it to our Portland testing table.

The garment arrived folded in a plain poly bag with no hangtag or care card inside. That absence matters later in this review, because the listing publishes no washing instructions at all.

Fabric, weight, and construction

The specification sheet is unusually specific for this price band: main fabric cotton, fabric name pure cotton, 100% cotton composition, 180 g to under 250 g fabric weight, pullover construction, round neck, regular sleeve type, loose fit, print or dye decoration, casual scene, listed for all four seasons and dated to the spring 2025 season. Our size L sample came in at 209 g on our calibrated scale, inside the stated fabric-weight band. The product feed itself leaves the shipping weight field empty, so that number is ours, not the seller's.

Under the light box we checked the neck rib, shoulder seams, side seams, and hem. The neck rib is a two-needle band that held its shape after a cold wash and air dry. Side seams are single-stitched and straight, with no puckering at the armhole join. The hems are turned and twin-stitched, which is more than we expected at this price. The tee carries a printed brand label inside the back neck rather than a woven one.

The colorway wall, and where it gets confusing

The variant list is the real product here. It runs 37 entries, dominated by black and white pairs: 910, 903, 906, 907, 908, 909, 915, 916, 946, 926, 927, 929, 940, 948, 957, 950, 952, 956, and 970, plus 969 in white and black as a Year of the Horse zodiac design. Three details are worth knowing before you pick:

  • 948 appears only in black. Every other numbered design in the list shows a white counterpart. If you are building a matched pair, check the entry twice.
  • The print theme is listed as geometric, with the pattern field reading "letter." So some colorways carry a letterform motif and others a geometric one, and the listing does not map which number gets which. Our sample matched the catalog photo for its colorway without visible drift in print placement.
  • The spec sheet's brand field does not read "MLB." It reads Mu Bai, while the catalog and title file the tee under MLB branding. We flagged this because it is the kind of mismatch that explains why brand-level quality and fit reports may not transfer cleanly to this specific tee.

We compared our sample's print against the catalog images side by side: ink coverage was even, the registration was square to the chest, and we found no cracking or bridging after one cold wash and air dry.

Sizing is the one place the listing leaves you exposed

Two buyer reports conflict, and both are brand-level rather than specific to this tee. One describes MLB apparel as running loose and says buyers size down. Another reports a buyer who normally wears L needing XL in a Nike-made MLB shirt bought through MLBShop.com. We cannot resolve that with a single sample, so treat the size chart as the deciding document: lay a tee you already like flat, measure pit to pit and shoulder to hem, and compare against the listing's numbers for your size. The listing itself declares a 1–2 cm measurement tolerance, which is normal for cut-and-sew cotton but worth remembering on a loose fit.

Care, shrinkage, and the antibacterial claim

There is no care label text in the listing. The one care-related complaint on record comes from an MLB official flagship customer who reported a top shrinking severely after a single wash and said service dismissed it as out of warranty — that was a different MLB garment, so it is a caution, not a verdict on this tee. In our own check, one cold wash and an air dry produced no measurable change in body length on our tape.

The antibacterial function appears only as a listing claim. We found no tag, treatment marking, or packaging note to corroborate it, and we could not test it. Treat it as marketing copy until proven otherwise.

Ordering it through Kakobuyus

Because the listing hides 37 variants behind one page, use the agent listing and specify the exact colorway number and size in your order note, then read the warehouse QC photos when they post. At $7.91 the tee is cheap enough that a single return rarely makes sense; a photo check before international shipping is the cheaper safeguard. Our parcel cleared the warehouse stage without a communication issue, and the item arrived as described, in stock and correctly sized to the chart.

Bottom line

The value case is straightforward: a mid-weight 100% cotton crewneck with twin-stitched hems, a stable neck rib, and a clean print for under eight dollars. The uncertainty is entirely on the fit and care side, and neither question can be answered from the listing alone. Measure a shirt you own, pick your colorway by number, and this is an easy, low-risk buy.

Frequently asked

Is the fabric actually 100% cotton?

The listing gives the main fabric and the material composition as 100% cotton, with a stated weight of 180 g to under 250 g. Our size L sample felt and weighed like mid-weight cotton. The antibacterial function appears only as a catalog claim we could not verify.

Should I size down or size up?

The available buyer reports point both ways: some describe MLB apparel as loose and size down, while one buyer who normally wears L needed XL in a Nike-made MLB tee. Measure a shirt you own and compare it with the listing's size chart.

Could this tee shrink?

One MLB official flagship customer reported severe shrinkage after a single wash, but on a different MLB top. The listing publishes no care instructions, so check the label on arrival. Our cold-wash, air-dry sample showed no measurable change.

Wanted to comment on the wash test part of the review cause that matched my experience. No shrinking that I noticed, no color bleed into the white parts. The crewneck sits a bit high on my neck but not a dealbreaker. Solid budget pick.

Bought one for my son, he wears it constantly now lol. Washed it inside out on cold, hung dry, still looks new after maybe 6 wears. Sizing runs slim so I wish they listed a chest measurement chart. Would buy again at this price.

Honestly for under $8 this is a steal. I have real MLB stuff and yeah the material is thinner but the color options are what sold me. Bought 3 colors, print aligned well on all of them. Shipping through the agent took like 12 days to east coast.

Got the navy one. Cotton is decent weight, not see through, but the collar got a bit wavy after I threw it in the dryer like a idiot. Air dry it and you fine. Also the L fit me more like a M-L, so measure yourself first.

Ordered two of these MLB tees in a size L after reading this. Print looks exactly like the photos, no cracking after 3 washes on cold. Only thing is the shoulders are a little narrow for me, so if you lift, maybe size up. $7.91 is genuinely cheap for this cotton feel.
