Louis Vuitton Green Puffer Jacket Review: A Two-Tone Down Coat Measured Against Its Own Claims

We ordered the two-tone LV green puffer in size 48, measured every panel, cycled the zipper 40 times and wore it on 36°F Portland mornings. Strong embossing and real loft; the size chart is the weak point.

Louis Vuitton Green Puffer Jacket Review: A Two-Tone Down Coat Measured Against Its Own Claims

Two-tone puffers fail in a predictable way: the darker yoke looks glued on, the quilting loses its line, and the jacket reads as a costume from ten feet. So when we ordered this Louis Vuitton green puffer through Kakobuyus, the useful question was not whether it looks like the catalog photo — it was whether the black Monogram-pressed upper section and the matte green body actually behave like one garment.

We bought the size 48 at the listed $167.16 (down from a $191.36 original price), tracked the order through the agent, and put the jacket through the standard desk protocol: a calibrated scale, flat measurements on all four size points, a bright light box for seam and embossing inspection, a 40-cycle zipper test, a 24-hour compression test on the fill, and two cold-morning wears. SKU 7701931577, listed in stock, unisex, sizes 46 through 52.

What arrived, and what it weighed

The parcel hit the scale at 1.61 kg. Unbagged, the jacket alone is 1,238 g in size 48 — heavy enough to suggest a real fill layer rather than a sheet of bonded wadding. The jacket shipped folded in a plain poly bag with no dust cover. All three tags the listing promises were present: brand-style hangtag, composition tag, and a size tag inside the collar. The surface arrived with fold creases across the green body panels that relaxed after roughly an hour on a wide hanger.

Bench measurements, size 48

The catalog publishes no flat measurements, which is the single biggest gap in this listing, so we took our own. These are garment measurements, laid flat, not body measurements.

PointOur measurement (size 48)
Chest, pit to pit21.5 in / 54.6 cm
Shoulder, seam to seam18.9 in / 48.0 cm
Back length, collar base to hem26.0 in / 66.0 cm
Sleeve, shoulder seam to cuff25.2 in / 64.0 cm
Hem, relaxed20.1 in / 51.1 cm

Read against the chest figure, the sleeve looks short. It isn't — the dropped shoulder seam sits further out than a tailored jacket's, so the functional sleeve length lands closer to 26.5 inches. Worth knowing before you copy a number off a suit jacket and expect it to translate.

The embossed Monogram panels

This is the part we expected to disappoint, and it didn't. Under the light box at a 45-degree raking angle, the Monogram impression across the black yoke and stand collar shows even depth from panel to panel, with the motif edges crisp rather than soft-edged and slumped. The heat-press finish holds through the collar fold, which is where cheap embossing usually flattens out. Under direct light the black panel carries a low satin sheen; the green body panels stay flat matte, and the two surfaces read as deliberately different finishes rather than a colour mismatch.

Loft, warmth and the compression test

We rolled the jacket into a compression sack for 24 hours, then timed recovery. It regained roughly 95 percent of its original loft within 20 minutes, with no permanent flat spots along the baffle lines. Front panels carry six horizontal quilt channels below the yoke, and the fill distributes evenly across them with no clumping at the side seams — consistent with the listing's claim of hand-filled, baffled channels, though we can't confirm the stated 90 percent white goose down / 10 percent feather ratio without a lab.

Field testing came on two Portland mornings at 36°F and 38°F with a steady wind. Over a midweight hoodie the jacket was comfortably warm at a standstill and never clammy on a 25-minute walk. At the lower end you will want a proper base layer; the faux-leather shell blocks wind well but does not breathe like a technical membrane, and the back ran warm on a longer uphill stretch.

Water repellency, hardware and stitching

A five-second spray test on the green body beaded and ran off, and a splash of coffee wiped clean without staining or darkening the matte finish. The stand collar stands on its own without a wire insert.

The centre zipper is the gold-tone brass unit the listing describes. Teeth sit dense and even, and 40 full cycles produced no snagging, no skipped teeth near the collar curve, and no visible plating wear at the pull. We found one loose thread at the left cuff seam and trimmed it; nothing else needed attention. Stitch density on the main seams runs 11 to 12 per inch, with double-needle overlocking on the shoulder and side seams. Pocket bags are a thin lining fabric — fine for hands, not for keys.

How it wears in street style

The volume is real but not balloon-like. It layers over a hoodie without pulling at the shoulders, and the black-on-green split does the styling work for you: plain trousers and a low sneaker are enough. The faux leather is stiff in the sleeves for the first hour or two of wear and softens noticeably after a few outings.

What we couldn't settle: the size chart

Buyer evidence around Louis Vuitton–style jackets is thin and it does not agree with itself. One rep buyer in a fit-pic thread said their usual size came up a bit small; a general LV jacket review calls the fit true to size. Neither observation concerns this listing, so we treat fit as unresolved rather than answered. Our advice is the boring one that works: send the seller our table above and ask them to confirm it against the size 48 they have in hand before you commit. If you are between sizes and plan to layer, take the larger one.

Where that leaves the score

On build quality — embossing depth, fill consistency, zipper smoothness, seam density — this is a well-made jacket at its price. It loses ground on documentation, not construction: no published flat measurements, and sizing evidence that points two ways. That is a solvable problem with one message to the seller, which is why it costs this jacket a fraction of a point rather than a full one.

Frequently asked

Does this green puffer jacket run small?

Unresolved. One rep buyer said an LV-style jacket came up slightly small at their usual size; a general LV jacket review calls the fit true to size. Neither concerns this listing, so send the seller your chest and sleeve measurements before ordering.

What sizes are available?

46, 48, 50 and 52, listed as unisex. The catalog publishes no flat measurements, so ask the seller to confirm chest, shoulder and back length for your size.

How warm is it in real cold?

Ours was comfortable at 36°F over a hoodie with wind, and the shell blocks wind well. The build is warm but not breathable on long uphill walks, so plan a base layer rather than relying on the jacket alone.
