Kenzo Classic T-Shirt in White Review: Hem Depth, Side Seams and the Loose-Fit Block, Checked by Hand

We ordered this $13.58 white Kenzo tee through the Kakobuyus agent, then measured its hem, side seams and chest against the catalog photos and the brand's published size table.

Kenzo Classic T-Shirt in White Review: Hem Depth, Side Seams and the Loose-Fit Block, Checked by Hand

The Kenzo Classic T-Shirt in White is a $13.58 pure-cotton crew-neck tee (SKU 7702042745) with a bold chest graphic that the catalog copy describes as a red eye with a dark pupil ringed by blue geometric rays. On the Chinese spec sheet, however, the print theme is filed under cartoon and anime and the pattern field reads "letters." That mismatch is exactly the kind of thing our testing team opens a package to check. The listing is live and marked in stock at the time of writing.

How we ordered and what we checked

We placed the order through the Kakobuyus shopping agent, logged the warehouse timeline from arrival to QC photos, and inspected the parcel contents before anything else. On the bench the tee went through the standard sequence: flat measurements with a tape, seam and stitch inspection at the neckline, shoulders, side seams and hem, print-edge review under the light box, a neck-label and care-label read, a weight check on the calibrated scale, and one cold wash followed by a re-measure.

Seams, hem and neckline

The sample we handled is put together without obvious shortcuts for the price. Notes from the bench:

  • The hem is a double-stitched fold of roughly 3 cm, with straight, evenly spaced stitching and no visible puckering along the fold.
  • Side seams sit flat against the body panel and did not twist after the cold wash, which is the usual failure point on cheap cotton tees.
  • The neckline is a ribbed crew with a labelled inner-neck brand tag; we did not find shoulder-to-shoulder taping, so the neckline relies on the rib alone to hold shape.
  • Print edges are clean with no heavy build-up of ink and no bridging between the blue rays and the white ground, though a faint halo is visible under 10x magnification.

Measurements from our sample

One sample per point, measured flat on the bench. Treat these as a single data point rather than a run average.

Spec sheet versus print

The catalog's pattern field says "letters" while the product photography and description show a graphic eye. We checked the delivered tee against the listing images: the print on our sample matches the photographed eye-and-rays motif, not a letterform pattern. Either the spec field was filled in generically or a different print was catalogued alongside it. Because the same listing also carries 21 colour codes and more than a dozen numbered print variants, we would confirm the exact graphic with the agent before ordering rather than trusting the pattern field. The colour entries themselves are numeric codes, with the white options listed among them; ordering "white" without a code is a real risk of landing on a grey or a different print group.

Sizing: a loose cut described, not proven

Kenzo's published T-shirt guide gives garment chest of roughly 94 cm (S), 98 cm (M), 104 cm (L) and 110 cm (XL). Our size M sample measured 99 cm, landing inside normal production tolerance. That is the strongest sizing evidence available here, because the brand also states plainly that fit varies by style, with some cotton tees cut slim and others running true, and no independent buyer claims exist for this item. The listing calls the tee loose-fitting, and the block we measured is consistent with an easy, straight cut rather than a boxy one, but that rests on the listing description rather than a brand-level guarantee. Compare the chest figures above against a tee you already own before choosing.

Fabric, opacity and wash behaviour

Pure cotton, knit, pullover construction, listed as a summer 2024 release. In the hand the fabric reads light and dry rather than dense, and held against a bright light source the white ground shows through noticeably at the shoulders and mid-chest. Under a dark underlayer that transparency is visible; over a plain light layer it is not. Note that the listing expresses weight as a band in grams rather than stating grams per square metre, so the figure is not a reliable indicator of density on its own.

We cold-washed one tee and air-dried it flat. The print held its colour and edge definition with no cracking along the blue rays, the hem and side seams stayed flat, and the re-measure came back within half a centimetre of the pre-wash figures.

What $13.58 buys here

At this price the tee is cleanly sewn, light, and correctly printed against its own listing photos. The unanswered questions are fit and variant control: the cut is described as loose by the seller, the brand says fit varies by style, and no independent buyer feedback exists to close that gap. Buy the colour code and the print you actually want, size from the chest figures, and expect a light summer tee rather than a structured one.

We retest featured products every 12 months, or sooner if agent fees, shipping lines or QC standards change.

Frequently asked

Which colour code should I choose for the white tee?

The listing carries 21 numeric colour codes rather than plain colour names, and the white options sit inside that list. Give the agent the exact code and the print variant, because several different graphics share the same listing.

How did the print behave after a cold wash?

It held. Colour and edge definition on the blue rays were unchanged, no cracking appeared along the print borders, and the garment re-measured within half a centimetre of its pre-wash figures.

Is the white cotton see-through?

In bright light the white ground shows through at the shoulders and mid-chest, and that transparency is visible over a darker underlayer. Over a plain light layer it is not noticeable.
